The EU is dedicated to empowering young people and involving them in shaping and implementing its external action. To achieve this goal, the Youth Sounding Board has been established, which aims to create a lasting change in how the EU engages with young people in its development cooperation. The board advises the Commissioner and the Directorate-General for International Partnerships on youth participation and empowerment in EU external action, across all political priorities.

The Youth Sounding Board is a group of young people selected through an open call for applications, and they represent the views of a diverse range of young people. Members build links with existing youth initiatives at international, regional, and country levels, gather opinions and views, and participate in capacity-building activities. The 2023-2025 cohort will also be involved in the implementation and dissemination of the EU Youth Action Plan.

Young people between 18 and 29 years old, who have a strong commitment to youth participation and empowerment in EU external action, are encouraged to apply. The Youth Sounding Board is an opportunity for young people to have their say and influence the EU's external action and international partnerships, making EU action more relevant and effective for young people in EU partner countries.

The call for applications for the 2023-2025 cohort of the Youth Sounding Board is now open until 26 April 2023.
