The European Digital Youth Summit (EDYS) 2022 was a much-anticipated event that welcomed 200 participants both on-site and online. The event aimed to address current democratic challenges concerning citizens' participation and the future of Europe. The theme of the event focused on a greener, more digital, and social future of Europe, and it was organized under the High Patronage of the European Parliament.
The summit was divided into three sessions focusing on the Green, Social, and Digital themes, respectively. The Green session discussed solutions for a cleaner environment, affordable energy, smarter transport, and an overall better quality of life. The Social session focused on solutions for a Europe based on social justice and solidarity, providing decent work, social protection, and combating poverty and social exclusion. Finally, the Digital session highlighted solutions for a Europe where digital technologies, innovation, and AI could foster more effective public services, healthcare, infrastructure, and competitive jobs.
The event concluded with a European Civic Hackathon, where participants proposed concrete solutions for the future of Europe. EDYS 2022 was organized under the EuroChangeMakers project, co-funded by the Europe for Citizens Programme of the European Union. The summit brought together young people from different countries and backgrounds to discuss, propose and collaborate on solutions for the future of Europe, creating a platform for active citizenship and youth engagement in the decision-making process.
