On 18 and 19 July, the 6th edition of the long-awaited European Digital Youth Summit will take place under the high patronage of the European Parliament. Held every two years, this event gives young Europeans the opportunity to learn from, and be inspired by today's decision-makers to become tomorrow's ones!
This year, the summit is focusing on three fundamental issues that will determine the future of the European community: youth participation in green, social, and digital dimensions.
Firstly, participants can choose to join the GREEN track, focused on digital innovation for a greener future, which will enable participants to learn about the challenge of ecological transition and discover innovative solutions for tackling it. Far from adopting a fatalistic stance, the aim is to enable participants to discover how, by dint of inventiveness and innovation, it is possible to implement projects that offer hope for a greener and low-carbon society.
The second track addressed at #EDYS24 is the DIGITAL one, that faces the profound changes brought about by AI and e-learning in our societies, and more particularly the role that young people can play in these transformations. At a time when innovations in this field are coming fast, and are poised to affect both society and economy, young people have an important role to play. To adapt and take advantage of the upheavals in artificial intelligence and the various innovations in the sector, you need to understand them, and EDYS aims to give you the keys you need to do just that.
Finally, the participants can also choose to join the SOCIAL track, that is related to the inclusion of young people in local communities, more specifically migrants and refugees. One of the greatest challenges of our increasingly globalized world is to welcome others, and in particular the ones that are vulnerable. Many young people arrive in Europe every year, and successfully integrating them will not only give them hope for a better life, but will also make communities more prosperous through their diversity. Young people have a role to play in this integration, for a better future, together.
Depending on their track, the participants will join thematic visits on Thursday (18th), and the next day, the Discussion Panel will be organized in a plenary session along with workshops depending on their track.
To take control of their own destiny, young people need to be informed, united and connected. That's what EDYS is all about.
