Training of Trainers – Bucharest, 1-7 September 2025
The Training of Trainers held in Bucharest, 1-7 September 2025 brought together youth workers and educators from across Europe. This intensive week was designed to equip organisations with the knowledge and skills needed to create their own activities for the European Digital Citizenship Education Week (EDCEWeek2025) campaign.
As a result of the training, participants are now empowered to deliver impactful workshops, debates, and interactive sessions on digital citizenship. All activities co-created during the ToT are visible on the official EDCEWeek2025 Activity Map.
Programme Highlights
The week combined theory, practice, and peer-to-peer learning. Guided by the trainers, participants went through the following stages:
- Welcome & Team Building – introduction to the programme, community agreements, intercultural activities, and exploration of Bucharest as a learning space.
- Understanding Digital Citizenship Education (DCE) – sessions on the framework promoted by the Council of Europe, including key competences, rights, responsibilities, and challenges in the digital age.
- Non-formal Education Methods – hands-on practice with facilitation tools, group dynamics, and interactive learning approaches relevant for young people and communities.
- Designing Activities – working in teams to transform ideas into concrete workshop outlines, using the Activity Design Canvas and other planning tools provided in the info pack.
- Pilot Sessions – participants delivered short workshops to their peers, testing and receiving feedback on their activity concepts.
- Action Planning – final preparation of activities to be implemented within EDCEWeek2025, ensuring alignment with the European campaign goals.
Outcomes
By the end of the training, each organisation developed at least one concrete activity to be implemented during EDCEWeek2025. These range from local workshops in schools, to online awareness campaigns, and community debates on digital responsibility. Together, they contribute to a strong European movement for responsible and democratic digital participation.
Learning Resources
Participants had access to a rich set of resources supporting their learning and implementation:
- Info Pack – logistical details, participant preparation, and background on the European Year of Digital Citizenship Education 2025.
