Between 3-10 of October, our General Secretary, Cristina-Elena BĂLĂCEANU and her Assistant, Corina CHIRCEA have represented our network at Model European Union Zagreb (MEUZ), a simulation of the decision-making process of the European Union institutions held yearly in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.
Let's find out how the event was in the eyes of Corina, first project of this kind for her.
Since the first day I've had the feeling that one of the most challenging experience of my life have just started. Fear for unknown, emotions and a lot of enthusiasm were the feelings that came together when the airplane took off and I realized that I had to wait almost 10 hours till we would arrive in Zagreb. In the evening of 2nd of October I met a lot of people and I was surprised of the cultural diversity. Then I had the chance to talk and to find out different points of views about diverse topics like: Education, Culture, Economics, Politics and moreover.
The rest of the week passed like a dream, too fast to realize how important could be every second spent together with professional people, every piece of information accumulated, every detail of my behavior in a diverse society. I understood how the European Union worked and what was the importance of its institutions. Moreover, I was a member of European Parliament and I had the chance to see with my own eyes how could be analyzed, discussed, adopted or rejected a legislative project.
But not to forget the social activities that made this project be unique and strengthen friendships. Thanks to a good organizational team we had a lot of fun and some great the parties. We had also a sightseeing tour of Zagreb, when we could admire the beauty of the architecture, the mystery of the Croatia’s history and we could feel the vibe of that place.
I could summarize this experience through the things that I had learnt and I could say that I had improved a lot of competences, from Communication skills, to Negotiation and Public Speaking skills, I had found out much more about European Union and my horizons widened. In conclusion, I can tell you that MEUZ2016 had an aMEUZing impact on me and I recommend it to all of you.
