Job Shadowing in Bucharest: A Hands-On Experience in Youth Work Organizations

24-03-2023

From March 10th to March 21st, a job shadowing event organized by GEYC Association, which is one of PRISMA's member organizations, took place in Bucharest, Romania, aimed at providing youth organizations with hands-on experience and understanding of the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities involved in working with local events and volunteers. The event was organized to help participants gain insight into the challenges and opportunities faced by youth work organizations in the context of local events and volunteer management, and how they are addressed.

During the event, participants observed the dynamics and interactions within the organization, and how the team worked together to achieve its goals and objectives. They learned about the various strategies and techniques used by the organization to effectively engage and manage volunteers for local events

The job shadowing event provided participants with hands-on experience and insights that they can take back to their own organizations. It was an opportunity for them to learn about the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities involved in working with local events and volunteers, observe the dynamics and interactions within the organization, and gain insight into the challenges and opportunities faced by youth work organizations in the context of local events and volunteer management.

Feedbacks:

"The fact of having lived 10 days with the active members of the GEYC association allowed me to see the reality of the field on a daily basis. What is this reality of the field? It's managing young volunteers, implementing various training programs, or working with a network of partners. In the end, who benefits from all this work? The youth. When I saw this Romanian youth thinking and implementing projects for themselves, it inspired me a lot. Right away, I projected myself into the future and saw our youth from priority neighborhoods, because that's our target audience, thinking about projects. Thank you very much GEYC for giving me this opportunity."

"The job shadowing experience was very rich and varied. We were able to observe different activities among the volunteers of the association, European mobilities organized by the association, a boot camp, and also synergies with other projects. This diversity inspired me in my future work as an animator but also as an entrepreneur."
